IMPORTANT STEPS
- Supervisor: Confirm a Supervisor who is willing to manage and coordinate Intern engagement and submit Submit Supervisor contact name, title, organization, email and phone to [email protected]
- Planning: Write and submit to [email protected]
a brief Intern Job Description and Scope of Work for 80 hours of internship
over 6-8 weeks at 10-12 hours per week. - Orientation: Interview candidate and coordinate approval and on-boarding of Intern including schedule and work plan for Internship.
- Supervision: Supervise Intern including: supervising Intern projects and tasks, evaluating progress, weekly virtual check-ins with intern, and on-going approval of and signature of Intern's timesheet.
- Documentation: Complete and submit final evaluation.

Onboarding - Getting Started (Adapted by CLN from Career Connections)
- Review written job-description and Scope of Work
- Ask for bio and headshot and e-introduce your intern to your company.
- Complete any outstanding HR paperwork, if any.
- Relay all necessary passwords, sign-in procedures, technology platforms, and logistics.
- Schedule regular 1-to-1 weekly check-ins
- Clarify working hours and schedule for the internship (including holidays, sick leave, and procedures for reporting in)
- Review the timesheet for tracking hours and activities and how to access the spreadsheet for tracking time
- Provide an overview of the company
- Review company culture (values, do-s and don'ts)
- Review standard operating procedures for your company
- Identify how to get in contact (email, text, slack, etc)
- Outline expectations (what you expect of them and what they can expect of you)
- Identify goals for the Internship (yours and theirs)
- Set up a time for the intern to meet other team members
- Leave plenty of time for questions and open discussion
